MANILA, Philippines—Those sunglasses with illusion Louis Vuitton logo all over the lenses made popular by hip-hop superstar Kanye West can now be had by Filipino fans of the brand as Louis Vuitton makes its eyewear collection available in the Philippines for the first time.
The Marc Jacobs-designed handcrafted eyewear has LV-philes drooling as it employs distinct design elements used in its iconic trunks and leathergoods—the S-lock, Monogram Flower and Coin de Malle hinges, for instance. The popular Monogram and Damier patterns are also used in its acetate frames.
Retailing from P25,000 to P33,000, a customer is assured of getting all those Gs’ worth as the lenses are given the stamp of approval by Carl Zeiss, the German optical lens specialist whose name is more popularly associated with camera lenses.
LV’s patented Landscape Vision guarantees 100-percent protection from UV rays. All lenses go through the so-called polarization treatment that improves visual comfort: the sun glare from wet and flat surfaces is reduced and color contrast is increased.

The Spring-Summer 2008 collection has 39 styles for men and women, including the Illusion and Conspiration Pilote range that employ the Monogram logos on the lenses. To the curious, no, the logos don’t block your vision when you wear the eyeglasses.
This new addition to the LV merchandise for the local market is testament to the French luxury malletier’s confidence in the Philippines that, according to brand director Rhea de Vera-Aguirre, they’re in a constant search for a new store location in the northern part of the metropolis.
At the recent launch, they also introduced the brand’s 2008 City Guide, which now includes five new European cities: Bilbao, Luxembourg, Nicosia, Reykjavik and Turin. For actual online article, click

I just read Meenal Mistry's blog at style.com about Chloë being open to the idea of future collaborations with a high end fashion house. "I’d like to do something with a high-end company," said Sevigny. “You know, the way that Sofia Coppola did with Louis Vuitton. I thought it was very cool. There were no labels on anything. I like that. I prefer it.” What do you think, guys? After Sofia and Kanye's collab, is it wise for LV to also do one with Chloë Sevigny?
We've been reading about Mr. West's collaboration with Vuitton but yesterday's Fall Winter Menswear show was the stage in which he presented his beLVoed design. Designing five styles for LV, the quilted back sneaker was the first to be seen on the runway. “I was inspired by the movie Dune. The collection had all these jackets that were very padded. They looked like maybe they had hockey pads in the jacket, and there was one where the collar came up really high. I took that element, and I put that on the back of the shoe. It’s like the opposite of the tongue. Usually you have the tongue at the front. [This is] like a tongue at the back,”, West says. Source: People
Rapper Kanye West is apparently moving to London to pursue his LVoe of fashion. The hitmaker is reportedly set to apprentice in fashion houses including Vuitton's headquarters there.
The hip-hop star, who is currently designing his own line called Pastelle, is desiring to study in order to learn the ropes of the fashion world. Hmmm...I wonder if he would get a special craftman's privelege to come up with his own unique Vuitton piece.
