François Cadière for Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 2012
Written by Motilo From: magazine.motilo.com
Prestigious label Louis Vuitton has this week announced their collaboration with Belgian artist François Cadière for a collection of silk, printed scarves.
As well as being one of the stalwarts of the brand, along with their leather goods, the Louis Vuitton scarf, particularly in leopard print, has become as iconic as the design house’s monogrammed goods.
Cadière was called upon for his unconventional eye, and to subsequently illustrate the new series of silk scarves named ‘Edun’ with Berlin as his inspiration. This geographical creative source follows on from the label’s previous collections being based around Russia and Japan in turn. The artist is renowned for his photography and handmade collages, all treated with his trademark surrealist edge, intending to ‘set off an inner voyage.’
Designs include depictions of worn posters as borders alongside hand painted ‘street art’ illustrations. As well as a new graphic direction, Louis Vuitton have called upon the expertise of department store Liberty’s to encourage customers to wear the scarves in a new way. Whether belting coats, rolled on the head or tied like bows, creativity seems to be the order of the day for autumn winter 2011, excellent news.
