The Mahina has one of the most luxurious leather of all the lines so it's no wonder that LV is expanding it. Pride Festival 2010

Louis Vuitton's False Advertising?!

British advertising watchdog, Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has demanded that two ads from Louis Vuitton be pulled out of circulation. One ad shows a woman stitching the handle of a Nomade Lockit and is entitled: "The Seamstress with Linen Thread and Beeswax". It continues with: A needle, linen thread, beeswax and infinite patience protect each over-stitch from humidity and the passage of time. One could say that a Louis Vuitton bag is a collection of details. But with so much attention lavished on every one, should we only call them details?” The other one is "The Woman with the Tiny Folds"; In everything Louis Vuitton there are elements that cannot be fully explained. What secret little gestures do our craftsmen discreetly pass on? How do we blend innate skill and inherent prowess? Or how can five tiny fold lengthen the life of a wallet? Let's allow these mysteries to hand in the air. Time will provide the answers. The two ads are beautiful and evokes the old European masters' style in composition of what a craftsman should look like, with tools strewn in the foreground and the tilting of the woman's head. But, I am glad that someone actually spoke out. Don't get me wrong, I believe that LVs are exceptional pieces. They're just not hand made as it used to be and these ads are portraying that they still are. I was told though, that the the rolled handles (i.e. Speedy, Lockit etc...) are still hand stitched but that's as far as it would go. Any thoughts?

Pride Parade Pics

Am I ready for Pride Weekend or what?!

Happy Gay Pride Everyone!!!

From Blog Friends with LVoe

While I was away, I received some fabulous pics from my readers. Let's start off with the boyz. Sandeep (check out his blog) LVooks absolutely amazing with his LV trunks and Steamer. Inspired by the current catalouge, his pic makes me want a trunk or two of my own. Up next, is Helmi from Malaysia rocking his Monogram Globe-trotter sneakers. (Check out his website too.) Sigh, I have yet to own a pair of LV shoes. These two boyz are fraternal Beaubourg twins. Francis Jay is the Monogram and Mac is the Damier, both residing in Manila. I bet their favourite hang out is the LV boutique in Greenbelt. Last but not the least, we have Jeffery from Hawaii with his Speedy Miroir. He wrote me one of the sweetest things: I absolutely love your site, I've been a faithful follower for about 2 years. I love all your vuitton bags, I myself have quite a collection. I've attached a picture of myself with my LVoe, Speedy 35 Miroir Argent. Mahalo for showing me that it's okay for a guy like me to express myself with bags. Mahalo Nui Loa ( thank you very much) Jiro Thank you very much guys for sending in the photos. I LVoe, LVoe, LVoe it!!!

Mon Monogram for the Neverfull

Did you know that you can now have the Neverfull personalized? Not only can you choose a myriad of colour combinations for the stripes and lettering, but you can customize the colour of the lining to match as well!!! Call your local boutique if they offer it.

Friday Nite Out

It was a beautiful night here in DC and so my co-workers and I decided to enjoy it. Much to my delight, the Chevy Chase store has a new window of cardboard trunks shaped like the Eiffel tower. LVoe it!!!

What did I miss?!

Gosh, LV has tons of stuff that have either been released or awaiting to reach the market while I was away. I saw a few pieces in Canton Road and even took some spy pics. Unfortunately, my iPhone was stolen...grrrrrrrr...but that's another drama. Thankfully, Bengt has kept us well informed. All photos from ILVOELV. Monogram Delightful GM ~ Nothing has really caught my fancy for the past couple of seasons. I thought I was losing the LVoe until I saw this Monogram piece sitting prettily on the shelf. The Delightful is the latest to join the core collection. Released in the standard trinity size, PM, MM and GM. It's a hybrid of the Galliera and Neverfull. I LVoe, LVoe, LVoe the zipper detail on the GM. This bag has re-introduced me again to the Monogram Collection. I have been focusing way too much on seasonal items. (PM $760, MM $855, GM $1100) Pochette Sobe New LV ~ I am sooooooo into clutches right now and usually prefer a small piece for going out. This fits the bill perfectly. With its simple yet elegant design, the tortoiseshell-esque finish just ads the needed glamour. $965 Monogram Antheia ~ crafted out of embroidered lambskin, the pattern reminds me of old world Celtic quilts. Named after the Greek goddess of flowers, the hobo comes in two sizes PM $2720 and GM $2970 Monogram Aviator ~ jacquard and lamé makes up most of the body of this bag with a bright orange lining drawing inspiration from bomber jackets. The pre-fall piece has a hefty price tag of $3270 though.
