Louis Vuitton Core Collection: Alma

I saw a lady today carrying a Delighful and I instantly fell in LVoe with the Monogram canvas again. It's like meeting an old friend or lover that you have not seen in awhile and all of a sudden you realize how much you missed them. So today, I would like to feature a Louis Vuitton classic: the Alma MM in Monogram. Designed by Gaston Vuitton, grandson of Louis, for his wife in the 1930's, it is one of the House's enduring icons. Several interpretations of the Alma have come and gone, but the Monogram version is still one of their best sellers. Priced currently at $1490 at www.louisvuitton.com LVoe it!!!

Core Collection Bags: Popincourt Haut

I was inspired to create this new category when I saw a lady carrying the Popincourt Haut the other day. I have been so busy filling up my blog with what's up and coming that I've forgotten the pieces that have stood the test of fleeting seasons. The Popin is a triangular bag that is both functional and chic. Carried on the shoulder, it's relatively diminutive in style and is perfect for the petite clientelle. Measuring 10.6" x 9 x 4.7", the Monogram canvas bag has a cellphone slot and inner pocket. I just LVoe the brass globular detailing at the zipper pull. Currently $985. Visit www.louisvuitton.com.

Core Collection Bags: Nomade

Writing too much about upcoming releases and runway bags becomes too tiresome at times. So it's good to come back to the core collection every now and then. Tonight I want to feature the most buttery of all of Vuitton leathers, the Nomade. The lengthy tanning process and the use of exceptional quality materials makes this line a favorite among leather connoisseurs. In time, it acquires a deep, rich patina that is unrivaled. If and when someday, I join the ranks of Nomade owners, I will be well satisfied with a classic Speedy or Lockit Vertical (as shown here). It only comes in two colors, the caramel for those who are passionate for vintage pieces and black for those who have a more contemporary sensibility. Core Collection Bags: Speedy Damier

I've been featuring a lot of upcoming styles and limited edition pieces but have failed to put a spotlight on what is termed as the "core collection". I think that it's time for me to talk about them by starting with the iconic Speedy. I chose the Damier ebene to be the first because I don't have one. Classic in its own right, the Speedy Damier is not as rampant as its more popular Monogram cousin. Yet, the lack of the ever-so-sensitive vache makes it an ideal bag for one who does not want to worry about such things. Ample in space, it holds a ton, but is currently only available in sizes 25 & 30. Rumour has it that an upcoming 35 is on the works. The Damier Ebene Speedy, it's the perfect bag to start a collection with! To LVoe it, visit www.louisvuitton.com or eLUXURY.com
