Fading Beauty of the Multicolores

I was surfing through e-bay with the hopes of finding a good deal when I happened upon this wonderful Speedy 30 in Multicolore. (Click here). Upon close scrutiny of the photographs, it was then that I realized that I was seeing what I have read in the Purse Forum about the Multicolore's tendency to chafe over time. It is kind of disconcerting to know that the much loved 33 colors of Murikami will eventually fade. I guess, it is part and parcel of this line and I believe of the damier as well. Truly, a thing of beauty cannot last forever...

  1. well, even monogram canvas and damier are prints, and do fade. that's why it's not advisable to rub on the canvas when cleaning it... i believe direct sunlight also causes fading.

i chanced upon a petit bucket recently whose monogram was so faded, you wouldn't see it unless you looked closely. it looked interesting though. =)

  2. Thanks, Patrick but I think since the Multicolore is silk screened, it does not fade but it chafes or peels off. The Monogram and Damier on the other hand are printed on the canvas and then coated, hence it is more long wearing. Visit again soon!

  3. I have a multicolored wallet, line of 2004. White. The insides are in good not so perfect no rips shape, but the outer canvas is where it's a bit low, the spots where your hands will always touch, faded, and it discolored a bit, yellowish (well i think most white items will) and to some parts, it very lightly grayed. I guess thats what I get buying original stuffs...
