EEEEKKKKK!!!! Vuitton lifts classics prices up to 9 pct!!!
Source: PARIS, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Louis Vuitton (LVMH.PA) has raised prices for monogram handbags and other leather goods considered classics by up to 9 percent in the euro zone, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The move reflects the rise in raw material prices such as leather and cotton, the source added.
"The increase will be of between zero and 9 percent, depending on the bag," the source said.
Louis Vuitton, which contributes half of LVMH's operating profit, also lifted prices, by 2 percent, in July.
LVMH shares, which rose as much as 2.43 percent after the news, were up 2.25 percent by 1441 GMT.
The price rise comes two weeks after Louis Vuitton decided to close Parisian shops an hour early to conserve stock ahead of the Christmas rush.
Louis Vuitton shops make up a significant portion of the French brand's western European revenue.
Analysts said the price increase was also probably intended to close the gap between Asian prices and European prices.
"They (Louis Vuitton) admitted last week they had a pricing gap problem, with Japan and China too high vs Europe," said luxury goods analyst Luca Solca at Bernstein in London.

Hmmm..."silent" price increase....
Hmmmm...I have noticed that there seems to be a "silent" price increase that just happened in Louis Vuitton. There has been discrepancies between online and boutique prices or vice versa. Usually my manager will tell me about it but I believe it happened around May 15 when Elux shifted to www.louisvuitton.com. I'm not sure so please confirm. Thanks.

Mad dash to LV before the price increase
After work today, I decided to drop by my local boutique to purchase Jeff's birthday present for next month. It's a bit insane since the price increase is probably worth my extra 8 stops on the Metro. But, any reason to go to LV makes me quite happy and content. I have instructed Piolo to guard my secret gift. P.S Brought my Beaubourg with me to the store, and my SA thought it was a fake.

Well, it seems that a lot of Purse Forum members have confirmed that there will indeed be a price increase this July 11. USA only. Wow, good thing I grabbed all the stuff I need to be ready to be sent to the moon. Sigh...I need a Keepall!

Price increase for July 1, 2007???!!!
Have you ever visited an LV boutique and you said to yourself that you would purchase that monogram or damier canvas on your next paycheck or for Christmas? Well, there is a buzz online that Vuitton is going to raise their prices on July 1 of this year. Time to run to your nearest store and grab that bag!!! I truly hope it's just a rumour.
